 Located in 25 three-story, terra-cotta-colored villas, guestrooms feature contemporary Mexican decor and balconies furnished with two chairs and views of grounds, pools, beach, and sea. Rooms are furnished with a table and two chairs and a desk and chair. Bathrooms contain tub/shower combinations. Each room offers an electronic safe that can be activated for a fee to protect valuables. Rooms are only available in the All-Inclusive Plan.  Rooms include Bahia Principe Akumal - All-Inclusive amenities include Riviera - Offering views of the Caribbean, this vast, airy restaurant under an enormous palapa serves international-style breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets. Dolce Vita - This restaurant serves breakfast and lunch during the day and becomes an ? la carte dinner house after dark, specializing in Italian foods. Frutos del Mar - Providing views of the Caribbean in moonlight, Frutos del Mar is an ? la carte dinner restaurant specializing in seafood. Arlequin - This ? la carte restaurant is open for dinner, serves an international menu of gourmet selections, and is reserved for Bahia Principe Akumal guests only. Acuario - This beachside spot serves drinks, hamburgers, nachos, and other light foods on the beach. As part of the All-Inclusive Plan, guests of Bahia Principe Akumal also can dine and drink at neighboring Bahia Principe Tulum's main restaurant, two ? la carte specialty restaurants, 24-hour beachside snack bar, and five other bars. The resort does not offer room service, but guestroom minibars are stocked daily with beer, soft drinks, and bottled water.

What to expect: Singly or together with its neighboring resort (Bahia Principe Tulum), the Bahia Principe Akumal is a tropical dream conjured up between a green mangrove jungle, the white sand, and the turquoise-water Caribbean. Life exists here in an ideal state of rest, relaxation, fun, and sun. Endless possibilities exist for group activities or solitary rejuvenation. Amenity highlights: Blending into one another, the beach and poolside sundecks provide an immense amount of space for sunbathing on lounge chairs, napping beneath innumerable thatch-roof palapas, or splashing in warm saltwater and cool fresh water. The powdery white sand?more than a half-mile in length past the two resorts?slopes to meet the Caribbean. On the beach's back side, sand extends inland in places as far as 100 yards. Dotted with trees and natural vegetation, this area offers secluded sunbathing, strolling, and areas for games. At the beach's center between the two resorts, an artificial reef ensures calm water. Sundecks extend far and wide, surrounding an enormous, lagoon-style, two-level main swimming pool, with an upper section designated as a "relaxation pool" and a lower section devoted to activities and including a swim-up bar. Farther down the beach is another relaxation pool. Both include children's sections and cool-water spas. Insider tip: For a fee, a photo desk arranges photographs of guests anyplace in or around the resort; in bathing suits, eveningwear, or Mexican dress; and festooned with iguanas or with parrots.
